Witnessing a Drug Deal: What to do.

Heroin use has increased in high schools, colleges and in Denver.  Below are tips on what to look for and what to do if you think you witness a drug deal.

What to look for and what to do

Heroin “distributors” and users tend to have a quick “meet” on the street between 6 and 9am and again in the evening between 4 and 7pm.  The buyer/user will be waiting on foot or in the car and may appear to be nervous or anxious.   DO NOT APPROACH but rather, note the following:

  • Time
  • Location
  • License Plate
  • and then Call 911 with this info

The deal happens quickly.  The heroin is packaged in balloons so you might see what look like very small water balloons that actually contain the heroin.   Heroin is cheap with users spending $14 or $15 twice per day.  Dealers/distributors have a sophisticated delivery system and have been preying on high school kids.  Both dealer and user are subject to felony arrest.

The District 3 Narcotics team is out on the streets working and but our awareness can help get some of these dealers off the streets.
