UPCC General Meeting Minutes October 2009

General Meeting held October 7th, 2009 at University Park Elementary School.

I only saw Pat Cashen – President, David Seymour – Co-Treasurer, (AND his wife Ellen Seymour) Mary Myers – Sidewalks, David Thorpe – Special Committee Zoning, and Rosemary Stoffel – Historic Preservation

Traci Samaras was nominated unanimously by the committee to be the Secretary.

The 4th annual Fun Run Fundraiser and Carnival will be held on November 7th at 10am. There will also be a “mom’preneur” marketplace held at the same time.

Phil Caplan spoke about the University and Evans Project. In summary, they hope to break ground in the summer of 2010 with 200+ apartments, an urban style grocery store, over 25,000 sq feet of retail space, and enough underground parking for residents and patrons. The building will be 11 stories tall. Pat Cashen also added that this concept is encouraged by Denver and should be a real benefit.

Rosemary Stoffel & David Thorpe discussed the 1st re-write of the zoning since 1956. There is a board of 8 members, who are all volunteers and have been working to move away from a “1 size fits all” approach and move to more of what the space is used for. They provided everyone with large scale maps of the UPark area and outlined where changes might be, should the city decide to make the final change. They hope to have the 3rd draft completed by the end of October. Rosemary and David also had a Q&A at the end for those who had specific questions.
