Alice Gilbertson from Historic Denver discussed the upcoming Public Hearing at Landmark Preservation Commission regarding the preservation of the Boettcher Center at the University of Denver, 2050 Iliff Avenue at June 1, 2010 at 1pm. If you need more information, Alice suggested visiting www.historicdenver.org
Dana O’Connor said the Home Tour raised over $27,000 this year and there were over 150 volunteers to make it all happen. The money benefits the University Park Elementary School. The Observatory Park construction is complete and the restrooms will be finished before the grand re-opening on May 22nd. The grand re-opening will be hosted by the UPCC and the Mom’s Group. This will be a pot luck event and they are hoping to find a few sponsors for beverages and utensils. The toy bin at the park will be in place soon also, so please feel free to donate any new or gently used toys for all children to use. And finally the fountain near the baseball backstop has been almost fully restored and will be returned soon.
Marybeth Twining asked if anyone would be interested in helping keep the Harvard Gulch clean with her this Saturday May 8th. All you need to do is bring garbage bags and gloves. She has organized this effort for years. If the weather is “iffy” that morning the alternate date will May 15th.
Rosemary Stoffel has not yet received information on when the construction will take place on the SE corner of Evans/University. The 5th zoning code update was completed and the final draft can be seen online at: newcodedenver.org
