UPCC Announcements August 2013

Dear University Park Neighbor,

The Band in the Park is scheduled for Saturday, August 17th from 4 – 8pm and will feature the Humbuckers.  The band will perform on the back-side of Chamberlin Observatory near Warren Avenue.  Thank you to Glacier Ice Cream & Gelato and Fido’s Day Out for helping to sponsor this event.  Please reach out to these businesses at the event and give them some patronage in the future.

We are looking for a few volunteers to assists the UPCC greet table at the event.  If interested, email pp@upcc.us. Following the music, Chamberlin Observatory will be open for Star Gazing. If you have never attended this event, you are in for a treat!

  • Thank you to all the UPCC Purple Pages advertisers.  The Purple Pages will be delivered in September.
  • Do you like the UPWords delivered to your door five times a year? We need help with delivery on the following blocks. Email vp@upcc.us if you can help our and  learn more about the system.

  • Elm-Leaf beetle is hitting some elms in our neighborhood.  Learn about signs of the disease and possible treatments.
  • Monday, August 26th Denver Public Schools heads back to school.  Please watch out for the kiddos walking and remember to keep car speeds down.
  • The UPCC is always looking or more neighbors to help make this such a great neighborhood.  Here are a few ways you can help.  If you are interested in any of the below items, email vp@upcc.us or call Jennifer Schmidt at 303.715.3970.
    • Have extra an extra storage area on your property?
      • The UPCC owns cones and a tent that need a home.
    • Are you an Excel whiz that can make merge mailing labels?
      • We need help with block captains spread sheet maintenance.
    • Want more sidewalks?
      • You could champion for our neighborhood.
    • Love the fun of the Sing and & Sleigh Event?
      • Help coordinator the event.
    • Like this UPWords publication?
      • Be the editor/coordinator of the newsletter five times a year.
  • Observatory Park Community Vegetable Garden is looking great.  Please stop by the check it out.
