Happy New Year University Park Neighbor,

We hope your 2012 is off to a great start! The UPCC Board would like to say thank you to all those that have supported us via our voluntary dues in 2011. We truly appreciate your support as it helps us do more for our neighborhood.

The following are the announcements for January 2012.

  • Thank you to all that attended the Sing and Sleigh in December. We had a great turnout and the evening ended perfectly with a blanket of snow.

  • UPCC General meeting is Wednesday, February 8th, social hour at 6:30, meeting at 7pm at UPark Elementary at Iliff and St. Paul.
    • We would love to see you and your kids there. We have something specialplanned…your own private presentation about Snowmastadon, the dig that has been taking place at Snowmass. The following is the full agenda.
    • 6:30 Refreshments and Social 1/2 hour
    • 7pm Donna Peterson and Ed Hawley – Neighborhood Helpers
    • Snowmastadon” – Peggy Montano, Trout, Raley, Montano, Witwer & Freeman, PC
    • Creating Communities– Jaimie SeeMiller, Denver Public Library
  • Saturday, January 7th from 10am – noon, University Park Elementary Open Housefor parents to learn all about our neighborhood school. Visit their website for more info or call 720-424-3410.
  • The UPCC is happy to announce a new Safety Chair. Steven Hick has volunteered to be the Safety Liaison/Chairperson and we are delighted to have him on board. Look for an article in the April UPWords from Steve.
  • UPCC Open Positions
    • Transportation Chairperson is open. Email president @ upcc.us to learn more.
    • We are putting together an Events Committee. It was decided the position was too much work for one person and that a committee is the way to go. Email vp @ upcc.us if you want to learn more or be part of the commitee.
  • Parks People are offering free trees. You must apply and deadline is Feb. 14th. Learn more.
  • Ross Hill Library is once again open. 
  • UPark Home Tour and Tour De Classics (Car Show), May 6, 2012
    • The event is looking for sponsors for their great neighborhood event. Email[email protected] if you are interested in being part of this great event.
    • The event this year will also have a car show, Tour De Classics! Learn more about this fun, new event or how you can participate.
  • Neighborhood Tip: DU offers American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid certification on a regular basis. The class is only 2 hours, is $85, and can save a life. Email Jami Patersek for more info [email protected].

  • Wednesday, Jan 18 7pm, Buchtel Blvd/Pkwy Coalition Meeting. Meeting is at the Heritage Club (corner of Evans and Monroe).
  • Tuesday, February 7, 2011. Colorado International School International Tea Parties at 10:00 a.m. and neighbors are welcome. Country is Argentina.
  • UPCC General meeting Wednesday, February 8th, beginning at 6:30pm with social hour and refreshments. Meeting is held at UPark Elementary at Iliff and St. Paul.
  • Saturday, Feb. 11 the UPCC is hosting the INC at Heritage Club at 9am
