University Park Community Council (UPCC) – a neighborhood organization registered with the City of Denver – addresses University Park neighborhood issues and interests. The geographical area represented by the UPCC is bound by I-25 on the North, Yale Avenue on the South, University Boulevard on the West, and Colorado Boulevard on the East. To learn more, visit our About and UPCC in Action pages. A LETTER FROM OUT-GOING PRESIDENTUPCC’s mission is “to promote and enhance the quality of life in the University Park Neighborhood.” Our efforts help to preserve the qualities that make this a great urban neighborhood. UPCC also addresses issues that affect similar Denver communities. Since 2000, many volunteers have worked on the University Park Small Area Plan (SAP), which was approved by City Council on September 8, 2008. Following incorporation into the Denver Comprehensive Plan, it will serve as the principal planning document for our neighborhood. The document includes an analysis of the neighborhood’s character. It also sets forth guidelines for accommodating change while simultaneously preserving and enhancing the neighborhood’s original character. Types of change that concern residents include transit development adjacent to and between the light rail stations, increased traffic on South University and South Colorado Boulevards, and changes in the neighborhood’s housing demand and type. UPCC has developed strong ties with University Park Elementary School and its PTA, as well as with the University Park Mothers Club. Collaboration among these groups has resulted in the annual PTA Fun Run, Mothers Club Mom'preneur events, 4th of July Parade, Holiday Sing & Sleigh, and PTA Home Tour. Other types of events are being explored. UPCC would love to mix some new faces with our long-time volunteers.
